Stupid Fire Alarms

Ok, I really don't have anything against fire alarms. I do have problems with the people that keep setting them off at early hours of the morning. The building that I live in has just had it's like 4th fire alarm go off in the past two weeks. Most of them are due to the stupidity of people playing with the fire hydrants in their apartments. I informed the people that work at my apartment building that if I burn up in a real fire because I finally get fed up walking up and down the many flights of stairs just for them to tell me, "it's a false alarm", then it will not be my fault. I wonder if I could get out of my lease because I can't get a good night's rest because of the fire alarms always going off and I have to stand in the freezing cold and get sick all over again. You watch when it starts getting warmer outside we won't have any fire alarms because what fun is it to stand out in the warm weather.

Finally Happened

Well everyone it finally happened. After being in Memphis for about three weeks now, I finally had my first meltdown. After babysitting my sister kids this morning I was leaving her house and suddenly felt very alone. They were headed to the mall and I was headed back to my apartment all by myself. I have no friends to hang out with or anyone to talk to or do anything with. All I really want to do right now is pack up my car and head back to Paragould right now and be around people who know me and want to spend time with me.

I've been working none stop for a few days and that has helped me keep things off my mine, but now I have nothing to do to distract me. I hate feeling like this and this isn't what I thought Memphis was going to be like at all. When I'm not working or at home sleeping, I'm at my sisters apartment babysitting. Spending most my time with a 5 year old and a 6 month old isn't as much fun as it sounds. I'm sooo tired of worrying about money and my car messing up or not having enough for to eat. Maybe I should have thought about moving here a little more before actually doing it.

Getting Use to New Experiences

I have been living in my new apartment for two and half days. Last night I experienced what it was going to be like living in a big city. Around 10, I was really sleepy and was dozing off when all of a sudden one of my neighbors decided it was a perfect time to nails things into the wall. Since I couldn't go to sleep with all the banging going on, I decided to put things away in my apartment. My neighbor finally stopped banging in nails at one in the morning. I headed to bed and when I was about to pass out, I heard screaming going on in the parking lot by my apartment building, so I went to my window to see what was going on. Outside there were several teenagers in a parking lot and two boys were ripping off their shirts preparing to fight. Once they had both deshirt themselves, they start slamming their fist into each others head. As they both hit each other, girls were throwing their flip flops at the boys to stop. Within no time I heard sirens and about six cop cars were in the parking lot. The police finally left around three and I finally made it to sleep.

After the long night, I was woke up around 7 in the morning by a train that thought that everyone in Memphis needed to wake up and start the morning. Thank you Memphis.

My New Home!

After spending two years in little bitty, Park Hills, Missouri, I finally graduated and was looking for a new place to live. I made my decision and picked Memphis, Tennessee. I spent all summer nervous about moving to the second most dangerous city in the U.S. Yesterday, I packed my car of some of my stuff and headed down south. I made it to the great city at 11 and headed to the University of Memphis to speak to my busy, busy advisor. After speaking to the wild man, I drove over to my sisters apartment and spent the rest of the day with my sister and her daughter and baby boy. We had fun and went and had some McDonald's, which was yummy. That night, my sister mentioned that my windows in my car were down and to remember to roll them up. Around 1, I finally became tired and realized that I still needed to roll up my windows. So I grabbed my keys and my pepper spray and headed to my car. While I was at my car I got a pillow and a blanket that was packed in my car. I locked my car and headed back to the house. I reached the door and found that it was locked, so I got out my keys and used the key that my sister and her husband made for me. After trying the key about a million times I finally came to terms that it wouldn't work. So I went to plan B, I banged on the door for about 10 minutes, and I finally decided that no one was going to let me in.

I didn't want to go knock on my sister window because I didn't want to wake the baby and I know that I would have made my sister mad and she sleeps so heavy I didn't know if she would even wake up. So I headed back to my car. I now know that trying to sleep in a car when you are 6'3", it's not easy or comfortable. I believe I finally fell asleep around 2 and all I remember after that is I heard a knock on my window. It was my brother-in-law looking very confused. I struggled out of the car and he asked me what happened and why I was sleeping in my car. He let me back in the house and I crashed on the couch.

My first night in Memphis and I experienced how it felt to be homeless, just in case something should happen. So hopefully this is the worst for awhile. I'm still excited about living here and experiencing new and exciting things.

Arkansas/Softball

I have been home from school for almost a week now and I sadly forgot how boring Arkansas was. I have been shopping, went and saw a movie and been to softball practice and that is where the fun stops. There isn't a lot to do in my small and boring town. Oh well, in about three months I will be in Memphis.

I have decided to play softball for Chili's again this summer. I have been upgrade from Designated Hitter to playing right field. I went to my first practice last night and today I'm in so much pain. My arm is swollen and my knees pop every time I walk. I don't mind the pain, I'm pretty use to it. Our team isn't really the best, but at least it isn't full of alcoholics this year. I will let you know how we do.

GRADUATED!!!!

I have finally done it. I'm now a college graduate and I'm feeling pretty good. Friday, Missouri was hit by several bad storms and my school was smack dab in the middle of all of it. Around noon we lost electricity and everyone was running around like chickens with their heads cut off. School was cancelled along with graduation practice. No one knew what was going to happen and we were all pretty much clueless. Around 7 that night I was sent several text messages from everyone saying that graduation was back on.
On May 9, 2009, I woke up ready to graduate. When I arrived at school I was told that we were not having pictures taken and everyone was going crazy about where everyone should be. Instead of being divided by degrees, we were all put together by categories. We stood for an hour with no A/C and about 75 people in one little hallway.
Finally it was time for us to walk, Yay, We made it to the gym floor and we were introduced by our President. Then he informed us that our guest speaker, Missouri Governor Nixon, couldn't make it due to damage throughout Missouri. I was so happy because that made graduation so much faster. I received my diploma holder and now I have to take finals. That's right I graduate and then take finals. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
